The unusually named Staircase restaurant is the all-day dining restaurant at the Samaya Hotel in Baniyas. It’s where I joined a friend, who was staying at the hotel, for breakfast. Hotels in Dubai really have raised the standard for breakfast buffets. So much so that even smaller hotels such as the Samaya boast very respectable spreads. In addition to the common International, Arabic, Indian and Asian sections, Staircase also has a live egg station where a smiley chef will make you the most amazing masala omelette, or any other way you like your eggs. Everything else one could wish for is also catered for including juices, cereals, bread, etc. Service was not quite on par with the big boys, but it wasn’t bad either. At AED65 per person, it’s not a bad deal but if you’re willing to pay a little more, Salt & Pepper at the Al Bandar Rotana across the road offers a much better proposition.
