The recently opened Liuyishou Hot Pot restaurant on Sheikh Zayed Road is, without doubt, one of the best of its kind in Dubai. Located in the passageway to the parking area of Latifa Towers not far from the Trade Centre, Liuyishou has a respectable, upmarket interior made all the more pleasing with the use of vegetation (be it fake) throughout the restaurant. In typical (authentic) Chinese style, private rooms are also available.
The food is fantastic. The broth, a key element in any hotpot, is flavoursome and freshly made every day. I was fascinated to find a whole section in the menu dedicated to the different broth (or “soup” as they call it) they offer. We chose a combination of Liuyishou Chicken and Spicy Chicken Soup to use as our base. Fresh too are the condiments from which you build your dipping sauce. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the ingredients they brought us to cook, particularly the seafood. Vegetarians note they have a full section in their menu just for you.
Staff members are friendly, English speaking and infinitely accommodating. Although unlicensed, this is definitely an option for date-night. Thankfully, prices are surprisingly affordable. Well worth a visit.
