I am a self-confessed thali junkie. I get especially weak at the knees for a good Gujarati thali. Visiting Kolkata from Dubai, where we are spoilt for choice where thalis are concerned, I just had to try out Rajdhani, a franchise I recognize from home. The interior décor of this Park Street branch is much the same in look and feel to ours in Dubai, both being relatively new.
The thali at Rajdhani is simply amazing. I coaxed an elderly Bengali uncle and aunty couple to join me. Fiercely non-veg Bengali in their food preference, they went on and on about not knowing this restaurant, that it was veg only, Gujarati food being too sweet, nag, nag, nag…until our food was served. Ha! Not a peep out of them after that. It’s amazing how consistent the food at Rajdhani is, not just from one branch to another, but in this instance, from one city to another.
Service is excellent too; friendly, accommodating and pampering in that typical, hospitable Gujarati way. I have little doubt that this is one of the best thalis available in town and highly recommend you try it if you haven’t already.
