Le Petit Belge is a Belgian themed gastropub franchise. This their newest branch is located in the Park Inn by Radisson on Turin Boulevard Road, Motor City and brings with it all the cheer and joy a new watering hole in an otherwise barren neighbourhood brings. If you’ve been to (and like) Maison Mathis, you will feel right at home at Le Petite Belge, they’re not just owned by the same SWR Hospitality group but also managed by the same team.
Chef Bart of Maison Mathis Arabian Ranches fame has completely revamped the Le Petite Belge menu. It looks very exciting. I was last there with my family and the younger kids tried the truffled mac ‘n cheese and steak sandwich while the (legal age) older ones shared a bowl of crispy calamari over a couple of Hoegaardens.
Although the food was excellent, as it invariably is with everything Chef Bart is involved with, I realised that he must have the Midas touch – prices are exorbitant.
I have been critical of Le Petite Belge service in the part, particularly of their Pullman branch. I was therefore happy to find the staff at this new outlet well trained, friendly and accommodating. The truth is, I really liked this little gastropub, it’s easy to get comfortable with. And if it weren’t for my mancave Maison Mathis next door, I’d already be a regular at Le Petite Belge – well worth a visit.
