Shahi Tadka is a recently opened Indian restaurant in Al Barsha specialising in North Indian/ Mughlai cuisine. It’s one of a handful of restaurants which delivers to Arabian Ranches. My order was taken by a polite, patient gentleman who seemed happy to talk me through their extensive menu, making several recommendations (which I always find so helpful). In the end, I stuck with familiar favourites – Butter Chicken, Mutton Rogan Josh, Mutton Biryani, Shahi Daal Tadka and a couple of Butter Naans thrown in for good measure. I also ordered a special Chass (buttermilk). I was promised my food within an hour. And I got it with minutes to spare.
The Rogan Josh was excellent. The Biryani was good but too floral in fragrance and taste for my liking. It was more similar to some of the Hyderabadi biryanis than what you get in the North. I felt the Butter Chicken was a little bland and nowhere near my benchmark at Chawla’s in Meena Bazaar. The Daal was okay, nothing special either. I loved, loved, loved the Chass though. All in all, the food from Shahi Tadka was good but not better than what is available in the immediate vicinity of Arabian Ranches. That said, if I am in Barsha, I will make a point of popping in for some of their brilliant Rogan Josh.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
