Yo!! Momos is a small Nepalese themed restaurant in Cluster R of JLT. If you find yourself wandering around unable to locate the restaurant, it’s because they haven’t yet changed the previous signboard – Laqmouche. The interior of Yo!! Momos is really…um, yellow. It has that forgivable element of unfinished DIY one normally associates with student dives. I was reminded of this little place in Calcutta which was similar…but blue.
If you like spicy, the momo to order is the Chicken Momos Kothey. Steamed and then fried before being served smothered in chilli sauce, this is a momo worth driving across town for – super yum.
We also ordered a momo platter which came with an assortment of colourful momos. The problem is that, after the fiery Kotheries, everything tasted the same.
Thankfully we had our soups beforehand. Manchow soup is a quintessential part of Indian-Chinese cuisine. I love a good Manchow. And the Yo!! Momos Nepali chef has it nailed.
The highlight of our visit to this quirky little eatery was the service. The restaurant manager is a gem of a man. He and his team pampered us to the extent that the raw and unfinished state the restaurant only seemed to make it more attractive. I will go back just for him…and also to try their Hakka noodles and chilli fries. Yo!! Momos – well worth a try. Head’s up though, it’s not cheap.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
