I have never been able to walk past Butcha without longing one of two things, steak or tea. I love the way Turks cook meat (from doner and köfte to steak), and I love Turkish tea…and Baklava and Künefe.
Butcha is a Turkish steakhouse, similar to the now world-famous Nusr-Et franchise, but with a slightly less painful sting to its tail. This City Walk 2 branch is one of two in Dubai, with a third opening soon in La Mer.
This time we were there for Turkish tea and my favourite Turkish desserts, Baklava and Künefe served with traditional Turkish ice cream.
Whilst the quality of what Butcha serves is absolutely excellent, there really is no justification for the exorbitant prices they charge. If I remember correctly, four teas, one Künefe, and one Baklava cost an eye-popping AED300!!! I had the exact same at Kaftan in La Mer the other night, and it cost me half of what I paid at Butcha. The quality was equally good. So was the service.
The morel of this story is…um, stick to the steaks when visiting Butcha.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
