Al Amoor Express is a branch of an Egyptian restaurant franchise of the same name. Located directly opposite Mall of the Emirates in Barsha-1, it has its work cut out where competition is concerned – there are dozens of restaurants at the mall. Yet I can think of few which offer such as authentic Egyptian experience. My friends and I tried Al Amoor Express for breakfast the other day and were very, very impressed.
We ordered (breaded) fried brain, stir-fried chicken liver, scrambled eggs with Egyptian Roumy cheese and falafels. And of course, tea. Oven fresh flatbreads were quickly brought to our table by the window, and we used pieces of them to eat our food rather than spoon and fork.
The eggs and cheese were unbelievable; Roumi cheese is one of the main types of cheese in Egypt. It has a distinctive smell, and different degrees of saltiness depending on the age which, like Parmesan, makes it ideal for seasoning.

The brain too was excellent and is highly recommended, even if you think you don’t like brain.
Egyptians are masters of cooking liver, our was no exception.

If there was a let down it was the falafel; the taste was lovely, especially when dipped in the tahina sauce it came with; the problem was that it was too oily.
Service was very friendly and extremely prompt, leaving me to wonder why there have been so many complaints from other reviewers. In all, my guests and I were very happy with our breakfast at Al Amoor Express. There are few restaurants at MOE which come close to offering anything remotely as good where Arabic breakfasts are concerned. Worth a visit.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
