There’s something which enhances the burger experience for me to a totally different level – beer. So, by default, I like Black Tap. It’s one of the only dedicated burger joints which is licensed, making it supremely unique. Just the fact that you can order a pint for one end of the table and a mighty milkshake for the other is pretty damn amazing…for this part of the world. Add to this the fact that Black Tap also serves some of the best burgers in town, and you’ve got a winning combo.
We staggered into this new branch at the Rixos Premium Dubai in JBR at around 2am on the 1st of January…on very, very wobbly legs. The smiles and infinite patience of their friendly staff were hugely welcome and highly appreciated.
Although I’m not sure what burgers we ordered (the fact that I have a memory of anything that night still amazes me), I do remember we all enjoyed our time there. In fact, my wife, who chose to break with her vegetarianism to eat MY burger, later commented that it was probably the best burger she had ever tasted. Now, I don’t know how much of that was because of the state she was in, how much had to do with her inner craving for meat, or how much it had to do with the burger itself so I’ll give it to nice folks at Black Tap, and say it was the burger (which I think was a Bison).
If there is a downside to Black Tap, it has to be the whopping price of their burgers, possibly the most expensive in town. Will that deter people? Not one bit. Not even with the newly introduced VAT, which by the way, we were among the first to pay. So, there you have it, Black Tap 2.0 – burgers, milkshakes, and beer – let the good times roll.
