This over-the-counter branch of Bentoya Kitchen has been around for as long as I can remember. It’s certainly been there since the earliest days of JAFZA’s original food court (now referred to as food court 1), which burnt down a couple of years ago, and has recently been reopened; revamped and refreshed. Although nowhere close in quality to the (proper) branches in Garhoud and SZR, this venerable, little outlet has been a firm favourite of mine.
I love ramen. And Bentoya serves a decent ramen. Yet, and this may be a subconscious, food court thing, I feel the ramen tastes different at this JAFZA branch. Different doesn’t mean bad, mind you. Not in the least. It’s certainly good enough to keep you from spending your lunch hour driving to Ichikura in Ibn Battuta (the next closest ramen stop). But it’s different from their other two branches, that’s for sure. I’ve tried their sushi too. It’s OK, but I’ll stick to their ramen any day.
Service is snappy without being rude. All-in-all, I think Bentoya Kitchen JAFZA is a great place to enjoy a bowl of ramen (especially at this time of year). I can’t really vouch for anything beyond that. I suggest you ignore the ridiculously unfair review giving Bentoya a 1. It’s much, much better than that review implies.
