Gazebo is one of the original Indian restaurant franchises in Dubai. It’s hard to believe that they now have no less than eleven branches in Dubai, this new branch on the first floor of the Mercato Mall in Jumeirah 1. Unique about this restaurant is that it isn’t a fully enclosed restaurant at all. One of the mall corridors has been converted into a cluster of dining pergolas. Nice.
Gazebo is famous for its Biryani. We ordered their signature Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani, which is simply amazing – a must try. All their Biryanis are worth trying.
So is their creamy Daal Makhani. We also tried a Murgh Achari, chicken curried in pickling spices. It was good but did not have the same ‘Achari’ spices I am used to. I will order something else next time. We ordered two Romali Rotis to round off our carbs. They were good but not a patch on Delhi Darbar’s world-class Romalis.
I was disappointed with the two drinks we ordered, Jal Jeera and Spiced Buttermilk. Our smiley waiter recommended I try the Jal Jeera with soda, a first for me. Nice, but no cigar. The Spiced Buttermilk was dreadful. I asked them to take it away and drank water instead.
Service was very good, accommodating, friendly and fast. Gazebo is a great (and badly needed) addition to the Mercato culinary scene, and I have absolutely no reservations in recommending it. Make sure you try their Biryani, it’s one of the best in Dubai.
