The Bridge is the Park Hotel’s all day dining restaurant. It is without doubt one of the best restaurants I visited during my week-long culinary tour of Calcutta. And let me tell you why – service. Service at the Bridge is outstanding. It’s far better than any of the other establishments at the hotel (hotel itself included), and better than almost every other of the dozen or so restaurants I visited over the past few days. Big-smile friendly, courteous and overzealously accommodating is only painting half the picture.
I have only had breakfast at The Bridge. Let me tell you straight up, it’s a gazillion times better than Flurrys. A buffet runs down either side of the tastefully decorated restaurant, one hot and the other not. South Indian and Bengali breakfast delights make up most of the hot section, with the odd chaffing dish of sausage and grilled tomato thrown in to keep the white people happy.
Organics make up the other side; fruit, yogurts, and other healthy stuff, but also my favourite…the oh so heavenly Mishti Doi.
Keeping things lively are two cooking stations, one for eggs and the other for Dosa. I tested both – yum is guaranteed.
And the finished product…
Quality of the food and ingredients are first class. The coffee is real coffee. If I had a gripe it would be that the buffet gets a little monotonous after a day or two – menu rotation would be welcome. So there you have it, the Bridge on Park Street – worth a detour.
