Mamagoto (http://www.mamagoto.in/) has been one of the most pleasant surprises of this Calcutta trip of mine. It’s the home-grown (Indian) take on casual pan Asian cuisine, very much in the same mould as Wagamama, Busaba Eathai and our own Jumeirah’s Noodle House, only it’s funkier, more colourful, more fun. I loved the graphic, playful interior – kudos to the designers.
Service is friendly, accommodating and chop chop fast. I only had their Laksa which was absolutely excellent; without doubt one of the best I have had outside Singapore.
Bummer that booze is not served though; I suppose there’s only so much of a good thing one can take. Worth a detour. Oh, and boys and girls of Dubai, you won’t have to make that big a detour – I hear Mamagoto are opening in Dubai in 2017. Yeay!
