Rajdhani, once the undisputed thali kings of Dubai, have re-opened – yeay! And like their spanking new premises in Karama, their staff, management, even their hugely talented culinary team are all new, flown fresh out from India.
The new place does not have any of the character of the original in Rolli street; it’s new, bright, airy and nearly three times in size for starters. But what it lacks in nostalgic appeal it makes up for with its superior quality and variety of food, and the same warm, friendly service made better even by the fact that they know they’re going to have to put on a good show if they want their crown back. Because while this cat’s been away, some mighty talented mice have come out to play; not least the current kings, Rasoi Ghar, followed by the likes of Maharaja Bhog, Revival, etc.
All credit to their new manager, Dev and his amazing team, you wouldn’t believe they’re in soft launch mode, so good was the quality of the thali I had yesterday. It’s still not Rajdhani of past, nor is it quite Rasoi Ghar. But hey, they’ve only been open a couple of days. So if you’re looking for a mind-blowing thali, or like me, simply miss the magic of Rajdhani, click on Zomato maps for directions on how to get there.
The thali kings are back. Now it’s only a matter of getting their crown back…something easier said than done. That said, I’m going back again today…
