Ask any self-respecting Pakistani taxi driver where to get the best breakfast in Meena Bazaar…or anywhere for that matter, and he’ll most probably point you in the direction of Karachi Darbar. I’ve reviewed several KD’s in Dubai but this was my first visit to their Meena Bazaar branch…on recommendation of my taxi driver. Located right behind the near antiquated Ambassador Hotel, the place is easy enough to find.
I was told to have nothing but the Haleem so it was a little disappointing to find they were all out of Haleem that morning. So instead I tried their Keema, which comes with a tawa-roasted naan bread on the side. Although it was a little watery in consistency, the Keema turned out to be amazing and had me happily stuffed in minutes.
Service was very good, in a KD kind of way, which means it was fast and, in my case, my waiter actually smiled at me…once. Believe it or not, I was in and out in under half an hour. And the cost? Dhs10. Unbeatable value.
