The Copper Kettle in Silicone Oasis is one of the best Pakistani restaurants I have be a while. And I say this having only had breakfast there. But wow! what a breakfast: Paya, Halwa Puri and Haleem. Oh, and a pretty damn amazing Karak Chai too.
The paya was clean and free of any unwanted put-offs (paya eaters will know what I mean); its sauce rich, spicy and hugely flavoursome. If we weren’t in the middle of the summer I would have broken pieces of the beautifully pattered naan bread into it, squeezed in half a lime and really gone to town.
The Halwa Puri was served with a bowl of Lahori Channa, Aloo Achari, two giant puris and of course a bowl of delightful Halwa.
If I had to choose a favourite it would be the Chicken Haleem which was so good it had me nodding acknowledgement and applause for the rest of my meal.
Service was very friendly and attentive thanks in no small part to Shiraz and his well-accented colleague. The restaurant itself is clean, bright and respectfully decorated; no painfully gaudy floral decorations or religious scriptures.
Parking is a problem. Consider parking in the rough on the other side of the road or drive by and park in the next building where Chin Chin is located. But make the effort, this is one of those little restaurants with BIG soul.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.
